Understanding Net Revenue in CRM

Net revenue in Race Roster CRM represents the revenue attributed to an event organizer after applicable refunds and payment processing fees are deducted. It provides an estimate of the amount added to the organizer's event balance rather than the total amount charged to participants.

Understand what is included in net revenue

Net revenue includes the following amounts collected through an event:

  • Registration fees
  • Optional and mandatory product purchases
  • Gift purchases
  • Shipping fees charged to participants
  • Additional charges or line items added to an order
  • Taxes configured and retained by the event organizer
  • Invoice payments
  • Registration transfer fees retained by the event
  • Event balance top-ups

Understand what is deducted from net revenue

The following amounts are deducted when calculating net revenue:

  • Refunds
  • Payment processing fees
  • Promoter earnings

Promoter earnings are deducted because the promoter's share of a transaction is not revenue retained by the event organizer.

Understand what is not included in net revenue

The following amounts are tracked separately and are not included in the net revenue calculation:

  • Donations and fundraising revenue
  • Applicable sales tax collected from participants and remitted rather than retained by the event organizer

Donations and fundraising are reported separately from event revenue.

Understand why the report uses net revenue

Net revenue reflects the event organizer's revenue after refunds and payment processing fees have been removed. This provides a closer representation of the amount added to the organizer's event balance than the total amount initially charged to participants.
