# How to Follow Participants in Races Using Predictive Tracking
This article facilitates spectators to follow participants virtually.
Race Roster offers the ability for event organizers to set up **live predictive tracking** for participants in a race. This feature allows members of the public to view real-time estimations for when a participant will complete their race, during the course.
For example, as runners complete individual splits within a course, their estimated finish time will be updated online based on their individual start time as well as their pace from current and/or previous splits.
Whether you are an in-person spectator at the race location, or an at-home spectator tuning in online, this new feature allows the friends and family of an event participant to monitor real-time race progress.
To learn how to follow and track a runner who is completing a race, please follow the steps below.
1\. Navigate to the event page of the race that you wish to track your runner from (or, you can [search for events on Race Roster](https://raceroster.com/search)). Click on the **View results** sidebar link (top dropdown on mobile devices) to navigate to the event's results page.
2\. Navigate to the race/distance you are looking to follow. Within the results table, you will find a **Follow** column with a toggle next to each participant's race record. For each participant you wish to track, switch the follow toggle to **ON**.
3\. Click on the new tab labelled **Following** tab from the top of the results table. As you follow more participants using the toggles, the number displayed beside the tab labelled **Following** will increase (denoting the number of participants currently being followed). You can follow a maximum of 10 participants per race.
4\. Within the Following tab, you will be able to track the estimated progress for each of the selected runners as they progress through the race.
You can click on the **View** button under a participant's name to pinpoint the progress of that specific runner on the route map. You can even view estimated times relative to your actual spectating position along the course using 'Map markers' in the settings dialog.
5\. Clicking on the name of a runner within the tab labelled **Following** to bring you to their unique results page. There, you can find more detailed statistics for that runner for each specific split point leading up to their finish.
#### This feature can be useful if you want to:
- Capture a meaningful screenshot of the participant's progress
- Catch up with the participant to cheer them on or snap a photo of them from the course sidelines
- Time your arrival with their course completion at the finish line or nearby
